Rock Collecting
Every collection here starts the same way — with a stone worth keeping.

Before a sketch, before a model in wax, there is a pocket with a rock in it. Garnets from a river bar in Idaho, a broken vein of turquoise picked up outside Tonopah, opals that came through the studio door in a paper envelope with no note.
We keep them on a long table by the window, sorted not by type but by feeling — the ones that glow from inside at one end, the ones that hold color like a memory at the other. When a new series begins, we walk the table. The stone decides the setting long before we do.
That is why the plinths are stepped and the bezels are low. The goal is never to improve a stone, only to give it a place to sit and be looked at. Most of our settings could be described as small pedestals. We have made peace with that.
